Private Text Assistant (Chrome extension) · Effective October 13, 2026

In short: Private Text Assistant checks your spelling and grammar entirely on your device, using the AI model built into Google Chrome. The text you write on websites is never sent to us or to anyone else. The only thing that ever leaves your device is feedback you choose to send us through the “Send feedback” form.

1. Text you write on websites

To find mistakes, the extension reads the text in the field you are typing in (for example a text box, an email draft or a Google Docs document) and passes it to the AI model that Chrome runs locally on your computer. Language detection also runs locally. This text, the suggestions the model makes, and the addresses of the pages you visit are processed only on your device. They are never transmitted to us, stored on any server, or shared with any third party.

2. Information stored on your device

The extension keeps a few settings in Chrome's local extension storage on your computer:

This information never leaves your device unless you send feedback (see below). Removing the extension deletes it.

3. Feedback you choose to send

If you open Settings → Send feedback and press Send, the following is sent to us:

DataWhy
The feedback you wrote, and an English translation of it made on your device when it is in another languageTo read and act on your feedback
Your email address, only if you enter oneTo reply to you
Extension version, operating system, browser name and version, Chrome's interface language, and the language last checkedTo understand and reproduce the problem you describe

The form tells you what is sent before you send it. Nothing is sent unless you press Send.

Feedback is delivered as an email to our inbox through two service providers: Cloudflare (which runs the small relay that receives the form) and Resend (which delivers the email). They process the data only to deliver it to us. We keep feedback emails only as long as needed to handle your feedback, and delete them on request.

4. What we do not do

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Permissions the extension uses

6. Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

7. Your choices and rights

You can stop all processing by turning checking off for a site or removing the extension. To access or delete feedback you sent, write to us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how the extension handles data, we will update this page and its effective date, and tell you inside the extension before the change applies.
